No Place for Hate

Portage Township Schools is proud to implement the No Place for Hate initiative throughout our entire district! 
 
No Place for Hate is an initiative in which our students and staff learn about building up character through our PTS Critical Values of Responsibility, Fairness, Honesty, Respect, and Compassion. The goal of the initiative is to enhance our school climate and culture by creating environments where students feel safe, respected, and empowered to learn. Through the creation of No Place for Hate student committees at the high school and middle school level, our students are learning to challenge hate through bullying prevention education and activities.
 
Portage Township Schools Critical Values: Respect, Fairness, Honesty, Respect, Compassion. Emphasis on practicing and modeling these values, creating a welcoming environment, with a no-place-for-hate policy.
The PTS Critical Values
Our set of Critical Values support the mission of No Place for Hate by serving as a set of guidelines for our students to follow. When our students and staff demonstrate the Critical Values, they are contributing to a positive school climate and culture.
 
RESPONSIBILITY: If I see someone being hurt or bullied, I will tell a teacher or a trusted adult.
FAIRNESS: I promise to treat everyone the way I would want to be treated.
HONESTY: I can be trusted to be kind to everyone and foster a welcoming school.
RESPECT: I will create a place where others feel safe and happy, striving to understand those who are different from myself.
COMPASSION: I will create a safe and welcoming school where there is No Place for Hate.

All students and staff members who have promised to uphold our five Critical Values of Responsibility, Fairness, Honesty, Respect, and Compassion have signed a pledge and displayed it in their school or service building.
