Goal #1: PTS will create a culture of high achievement

A) Classroom strategies
a) We will use research-based practices.
b) We will set instructional goals in the classrooms that align with the curriculum maps.
c) We will build consistency with classroom rules, expectations, and procedures.
d) We will utilize academic vocabulary in the classroom and in the school.
e) We will provide additional support and/or resources for academic improvements.
f) We will establish and maintain our communication to the home.
g) We will use data with our students.
h) We will use our mastery learning for summative indicator assessments.
i) We will use our curriculum maps which will be regularly reviewed and revised as needed.
j) We will participate in culture setting activities to improve student achievement.

B) Building and District strategies 
a) We will support summer school programs.
b) We will increase our professional development for teachers and staff based on needs.
c) We will support the Professional Learning Communities concept in the schools.
d) As principals: We will study, integrate, and support research-based practices. We will follow and utilize the “Portage Way.” We will guide and be an active participant in the curriculum maps work. We will work with curriculum committees to assure assessments mirror what the students are required to do on state assessments. We will work with parents to utilize parent curriculum guides.
e) We will have principals introduce and guide culture activities.
f) We will be effective users of data.

C) Superintendent, Support Systems, and Central Office Strategies
a) We will teach the PLC concepts and skills and support PLC leadership.
b) We will ensure the Parent Curriculum Guides are updated.
c) We will promote our successes, build our image and design a culture of high achievement for all students.
d) We will support strategies to increase parent involvement in our schools.
e) We will provide professional development for teachers, staff, administrators, and parents.
f) We will invent and establish an alternative school with high expectations.
g) We will support culture setting activities in the schools.
h) We will utilize methods to provide more emphasis and support on CTE (Career Tech Education) at an earlier age.
i) We will carefully plan for staffing based on student needs


Goal #2: PTS will create a culture of technological innovation

A) Classroom Strategies
a) We will have technology devices used by teachers as a foundational tool for instruction for grades 4-12.
b) We will use the Flipped Classroom where appropriate to meet the needs of our students.
c) We will use Google Apps for education in the classroom
d) We will use Schoology as our learning management system in as many classrooms as possible for blended learning.
e) We will provide students and teachers the opportunities to teach each other on the use of technology.
f) We will use technology to replace textbooks as technological tools become available.
g) We will provide outreach to parents about the use of technology as an instructional tool.

B) Building and District Strategies

a) We will design our curriculum to be supported by the appropriate technology.
b) We will have a technology design that will lead us into the future.
c) We will have ongoing professional development for instructional practices.
d) We will put a Director of Technology Integration in place to support technology integration.
e) We will put a Director of Data and Student Information Services in place to support effective data.
f) We will provide outreach to the parents and community about the use of technology as an instructional tool.
g) We will have a technology committee to provide ongoing guidance, support, and research for the use of technology across the district.
h)We will have principals as drivers and monitors for technological integration in their building.

C) Superintendent, Support Systems, and Central Office Strategies

a) We will have central office communicate, model and lead through a variety of technological methods.
b) We will have a collection of videos compiled on topics that support all staff.
c) We will support a curriculum designed to include technology as an instructional tool.
d) We will look for and begin new classes built on technological advances.
e) We will use the K-12 technology standards with our curriculum and instruction.
f) We will have a long-range plan for technology put together to meet the curriculum and instructional needs of our students.
g) We will design and oversee a long-term technology budget.
h) We will hold high expectations for the use of technology in the classroom, buildings, and across the district.
i) We will encourage and provide ongoing opportunities for technology professional development.
j) We will redesign The IT Department to meet the district needs.


Goal #3: PTS will create a culture of collaboration and acceptance in a safe and secure learning environment

A) Classroom Strategies
a) We will use Whole Brain Teaching as a part of our culture building.
b) We will have teachers build positive relationships with students.
c) We will provide a positive culture that is purposefully designed and implemented.
d) We will have a sustained emphasis on a culture of high expectations for academic achievement and behaviors.
e) We will encourage practiced classroom management to maintain and improve safety, civility, and character development.
f) We will have teachers supporting the building processes, procedures, and expectancies of culture, safety, civility, and character.
g) We will embrace and use the Core Values.

B) Building and District Strategies
a) We will have principals and teacher leaders driving positive culture activities in the schools.
b) We will perform culture and climate surveys to be analyzed for academics and safety.
c) We will have principals work with staff to support culture and safety improvements.
d) We will use Maslow’s hierarchy as a consideration when helping students.
e) We will analyze discipline data to seek continual improvements.
f) We will have principals and teachers follow the parent/student handbook.
g) We will have principals and building leaders guide the Core Values work.
h) We will create a positive classroom and building culture that will be audited yearly.
i) We will have principals and all staff model safety, civility, and good character.
j) We will have safety drills practiced.

a) We will utilize the safety and security committees to improve safety and security.
b) We will utilize the discipline committee to improve safety and security.

e) We will have a positive culture that is purposefully supported by the budget and time.
f) We will have student handbooks that are internally consistent, aligned with state and federal laws, and approved by the PTS Board of Trustees.

h) We will use culture activities and expectations that are communicated to the community.
i) The Superintendent will ensure we have the right people on the right seats of the bus.

d) We will share our work with our colleagues in a PLC to promote great practices.
e) We will promote and publish student work, projects, accomplishments, and collaboration .
f) We will be known for a culture of collaboration with partners in the community.
g) We will believe and invest in being the best.

a) We will use building and district leaders to promote, encourage, inspire, and support each other.
b) We will have building leaders present at state and national conferences.
c) We will have building and district leaders collaboratively produce videos on exemplary practices.
d) We will collectively produce commercials to promote our culture.
e) We will include parents, students, community, and partners in our designs and promotions.
f) We will have principals belong to and engage in professional organizations.
g) We will provide Professional Development for parents.
h) We will have a Service Learning requirement for students in grades 6-12.

j) We will produce a PTS annual report for all the real estate offices in the region.
k) We will have the superintendent work to have influence at the state level.
