School Board Meeting Schedule 2016/2017:  Approved April 25, 2016

The Portage Township Board of School Trustees provides governance for an approximately 78 million dollar business, employing more than 1,000 perople who serve the needs of more than 8,500 Portage Township students.
The Board conducts regular business meetings once each month, normally scheduled on the last Monday. Discussion meetings also take place once each month, generally on the second Wednesday. Special meetings may be scheduled to deal with additional business as it arises.

Indiana Law Code 5-14-1.5-3 requires that all school board meetings be open to the public for the purpose of permitting members of the public to observe and record them. Advance notice of all meetings is provided to the local news media and agendas are posted outside the Administration Building located at 6240 US Highway 6.

ISBA SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATE FORUMS

Indiana School Boards Association to Hold Ten Regional School Board Candidate Forums

These forums are designed to inform new candidates and incumbents running for re-election about school boardsmanship. Some of the topics to be discussed include the roles and responsibilities of being a school board member, ethics, and legal responsibilities. There is time allotted for questions from the audience.

ISBA encourages as many local candidates to attend so if you are running or know someone running for your local school board please forward this information to them.

Cost is $35 and each candidate will receive a school board candidate’s kit, which contains valuable information on the financial, legal, and ethical aspects of serving on a school board.

Please below for a schedule for the local date and location for the Candidate Forum in your area.

Please let prospective candidates know that they are able to register HEREInfo will be emailed from the ISBA offices to the county clerk offices as well.

Please contact ISBA, not the facility, if you have any questions regarding the forum.

Forums will run from 6:00pm-9:00pm (all local times).
